Biographical Information for Francine E. Block
Francine E. Block is President of American College Admissions Consultants. Her career in education and college admissions has spanned more than 25 years. Before beginning college admissions work, she was a high school English and Social Studies teacher in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Great Britain. She has since gone on to work with college applicants from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Mexico as well as those from throughout the United States.
Highly regarded for her expertise on college admissions issues, Mrs. Block has contributed to the following recent books and publications: Getting Your Child into College-What Parents Must Know; Personal Financial Planning Portfolio: Selecting a College, The Admissions Game, Financing College Costs, and The College Money System . In addition, she is an information source for Money Magazine and Newsweek, and has been interviewed on CNN, NBC and for articles in The Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, U.S. News and World Report, and TIME.
Francine E. Block is past President of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling, sits on their Board, and served as Vice-Chair on the College Admission Practices Committee. She serves, as she has for many years in the past, as a National Assembly Delegate to the National Association for College Admission Counseling. She is co-founder of the St. Michael's Conference for college admissions deans, directors and other admissions professionals now in its nineteenth year. She was a faculty member of the Summer Institute held at Bucknell University and served on the Admissions Advisory Boards of Penn State University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She continues to consult for other major universities.
For several years, Mrs. Block was a member of the Superintendent's Advisory Board for the Council Rock School District, Newtown, PA, and helped prepare the report that earned Council Rock's designation as a Blue Ribbon High School. She also serves on the Council Rock Drug Free Community Committee as Treasurer. Mrs. Block developed and was Director of the Career and College Resource Center at Westborough High School, Westborough, MA. She served on an Advisory Board for Gifted and Talented Students and was on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Mandated Committee for the Establishment of Minimum Competency Levels in Schools. She is a Commissioner for the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners.
Francine E. Block serves on the Boards of Directors of the United Way of Bucks County and the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, where she is Past Chair. She is past President of the Saint Mary Hospital Guild Executive Board, and has served as a national officer of the Association of Junior Leagues International. She is listed in Who's Who in the World, The International Who's Who of Business and Professional Women, Who's Who in America: Eastern Edition, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in American Education.
A native of Vermont, Mrs. Block holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Vermont. She also studied at the University of London. Mrs. Block earned two Outstanding Alumni Awards from the University of Vermont - one for Admissions and one for her work with the Career Alumni Network.
